Supper Club Member,Cary Marsh of Mydeo came out on top at the Everywoman Awards, picking up the Iris Award 2007.
Iris is Messenger of the Gods and the Personal Messenger of Hera, Queen of the Gods. This Award goes to the woman whose business growth and success has been greatly improved, through successful implementation and use of IT and communications.
In 2003, Cary Marsh asked herself, “why is it that what I want to do on the web is so complicated and so expensive”? All she wanted to do was to share her video of her new baby online for her family overseas. And surely she couldn’t be the only person who would like to do the same?
In 2004 she started raising cash for her new venture – she won a DTI grant for Technical Innovation, she took out a loan, got investment from angels – raising over half a million pounds for her start-up. Finding investors to back a technology business run by a woman with two small children wasn’t easy.
In March 2005, she finally launched the business, 4 weeks after the birth of her second son. Today her company provides high quality affordable streaming video hosting to over 150,000 individuals, communities and businesses worldwide. Two months ago the largest consumer electronics retailer in the US took a minority equity stake in the business which is going to result in exponential growth in those numbers.
Cary is passionate about everything in her life – her business, her children and encouraging more girls to get involved in science and technology.
